Defence Ministry Monitoring Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva says that it is his duty to look after the people of the Kolonnawa electorate who elected him to parliament at a time when they had no parliamentary representation.

MP R. Dumindha Silva said so while participating at a UPFA election propaganda rally held at the Kolonnawa Public stadium recently.

Will bow down to people but not to injustice and fraud; MP R Dumindha Silva

Defence Ministry Monitoring Parliamentarian R Dumindha Silva says that even though he is ready to bow down to people at anytime, he is not ready to bow down to injustice and fraud.

Parliamentarian R Dumindha Silva made these comments addressing a UPFA public rally at the Nawaloka grounds in Sedawatta - Kolonnawa recently.

Speaking further Parliamentarian R Dumindha Silva said that the time has come to end the corrupt UNP rule of the Kolonnawa Urban Council.

He stated that steps will be taken to create a true public service after gaining victory for the UPFA at the forthcoming Local Government election.

Meanwhile, roofing sheets were distributed to low income earning families in Nawalokapura – Sedawaththa and wheel chairs were also given to disable persons.

School books were provided to 2000 students in the Sedawaththa area under the Sisu Saviya programme and Yoshitha Rajapaksa – the second son of President Mahinda Rajapaksa also participated at the occasion.

Appoint an able team for Kotikawatta - Mulleriyava; MP R Dumindha Silva

R. Dumindha Silva

Defence Ministry Monitoring Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva says that a large sum of money has been allocated for the development of the Kolonnawa electorate under the 'Mahinda Chinthana' programme.

The MP said that this initiative had the full backing of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

Defence Ministry Monitoring Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva said so while participating at a UPFA people's rally held at Himbutana in Mulleriyava recently.

Rapid development for Kollonnawa says MP R. Dumindha Silva

Defence Ministry Monitoring Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva says that the Kolonnaawa electorate that had been subjected to lethargy in development receiving step-motherly treatment for several years is now moving towards speedy development in all sectors under the guidance of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The MP said so while participating in the inauguration of the new computer centre of the Sri Raahula Vidyaalaya at Meethotomulla in Kolonnaawa recently.

On this occasion the MP also revealed that three schools in the Kolonnaawa electorate had been selected under the 1000 secondary schools project implemented under the Education Ministry.

Accordingly the Kolonnaawa Olcott Mahaa Vidyaalaya, Kotikaawatta Raajasingha Madhya Mahaa Vidyaalaya and the Sedawatta Sri Siddhartha Mahaa Vidyaalaya come under the said project.

Expressing his views further Defence Ministry Monitoring Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva said that the schools in the region had been developed and that the principals of schools were being provided all necessary assistance to develop the schools in Kollonnawa.

Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva meanwhile further stated that by the year 2013 the Kollonnawa electorate will be able to boast of Sports Complex with all amenities, a swimming pool and a fully equipped laboratory.

A great inconvenience had been experienced at the Meethotumulla Sri Raahula Vidyaalaya as a result of teachers leaving the school due to the decrease of school attendance by the students.

This was due to the dumping of garbage from Colombo at Pothuvil-kumbara located in the vicinity of the school.

After MP R. Dumindha Silva informed this to Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa garbage disposal took place properly and the problem that the school had faced was resolved.

Plaudits from Archbishop for MP R. Dumindha Silva for revealing the truth

Defence Ministry monitoring parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva says that there is a conspiracy to mislead the people and jeopardise the project for constructing 70,000 houses for Colombo shanty dwellers.

The MP said so while participating yesterday in the event for revealing to the people the true status with regard to this programme of misleading the people.

This meeting for true awareness-creation among the people was held at St. James' church, Mutwal.

The people of the area had complained to the priests of St. James' church that there was a preparation to demolish the North Colombo shanties and resettle the shanty-dwellers there at some other locality.

This meeting was held yesterday after these priests had informed His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith about the problem.

However Defence Ministry Monitoring parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva gave a correct clarification about the 70,000 house construction project implemented on behalf of Colombo shanty-dwellers.

At this meeting MP R. Duminhda Silva informed the people not to be deceived by false propaganda aimed at misleading them and emphasised that no shanty-dweller would be resettled outside Colombo.

Another social service project by MP R. Dumindha Silva.

The third phase in the series of seminars conducted under the guidance of Defence Ministry Monitoring Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva on behalf of the Colombo District students taking the year 5 scholarship examination this time was concluded recently.

That was at the Hanwella - Maayaadunna Mahaavidyaalaya.

While this series of seminars commenced from the Battaramulla Sri Subhuthi National School, the second phase was held at the Kolonnawa Baalikaa Vidyaalaya.

Several students participating in the year 5 scholarship examination this time and several of their parents expressed their views about this series of seminars.

Financial aid from MP R Dumindha Silva to the Heenati-Kumburu temple.

Defence Ministry Monitoring Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva recently provided financial aid for completing the construction of the three-storey building comprising Relic House of Lord Buddha, Library and monastery that is being constructed at the ancient Heenaeti-kumbura Buddhist Temple in Talangama North in Kaduwela.

Several times assistance was obtained for this building, the construction of which began two years ago.

Chief Incumbent of North Talangama Heenaeti-kumbura Ancient Buddhist Temple Doctor of Discipline Venerable Varaapitiye Aananda Thera expressed his views with regard to this philanthropic act of the MP.

Public rally around MP R.Dumindha Silva to defeat petty political provocations.

A massive protest was held last evening in Fort against the attempts by the bankrupt political forces who are trying to provoke employees of the Katunayaka Free Trade Zone.

This protest was held under the patronage of the Defence Ministry Monitoring Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva.

Protesters who participated in the event said that certain political parties were attempting to reincarnate the violence of the 88-89 era once again.

MP R.Dumindha Silva's Kollonnawa development projects continue

The Development programme, Defence Ministry Monitoring parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva has launched throughout the Kolonnaawa electorate continues to be implemented without interruption. Under this programme priority has been given for providing infra-structure facilities in the Kolonnaawa electorate.
Particularly provision of water and electricity as well as road development will be included in this programme.

Accordingly the Kaelanimulla Cross Road belonging to the Kolonnaawa - Kotikaawatta - Mulleriyaawa Divisional Council reconstructed by MP R. Dumindha Silva was handed over to the public recently.

MP R. Dumindha Silva meets the public to dispel false rumors

The people of plot 66 located in the vicinity of the Sahaspura Housing Complex in Borella express their strong protest against an English Weekend newspaper that was alleged to have reported false information.

The residents of the area say that the newspaper concerned has given publicity to false information with regard to an incident of removing a line of houses for constructing a new housing complex in plot 66.

The residents of the area said that the English newspaper concerned had reported that the Government had been trying to evacuate them from those houses and settle them in Homagama and Awissawella.

A female resident of plot 66 Chamilaa Sudarshini speaking to our news team with regard to the incident stated this news paper report was a fabricated story which had published false statements which have been attributed to her in the report.

She further stated that the said newspaper had published a picture of her with a false name and that the reporters had never spoken to her or any of the other residents and had only come and taken some photographs after which the fabricated news article had been published.

Residents of plot 66 attested that they offered their fullest support to the new housing programme implemented under the leadership of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa under a concept of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

500 UNP operatives join UPFA in Kolonnawa

A group of more than 500 UNPers including UNP Youth Front national youth union treasurer and MP Ravi Karunanayake's Kolonnaawa electorate coordinating secretary Randika Sahabandu joined the UPFA.

That was during a function held in Kolonnawa under the patronage of Defence Ministry Monitoring parliamentarian, Colombo District MP R. Dumindha Silva.

Another phase of distributing metal roofing sheets to low income people was held at Kotuwala in Kolonnawa yesterday.

Expressing his views on this occasion MP Ravi Karunanayake's Kolonnaawa electorate coordinating secretary Randika Sahabandu said that the group including him joined hands with MP R. Dumindha Silva to offer support to President Mahinda Rajapaksa's programme.

In addition he said that the UNP was deteriorating every day and that it had not been able to safeguard the opposition.

A new house from MP R Dumindha Silva in place of the house destroyed by fire

Parliamentarian R Dumindha Silva who always comes forward to assist the innocent People in need, has constructed a new house on his account for Chaminda Kumarasiri and his family, whose house located at Weediya Bandara Mawatha, Kelanimulla was completely destroyed by a fire on the Wesak full moon poya day last year.

The house was constructed at an expense of Rs 500,000/=.The house warming ceremony was held on the 30th of January 2011 under the patronage of Parliamentarian R Dumindha Silva.

Solutions for people distressed by floods in Kolonnawa from MP R Dumindha Silva

Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva has taken steps to provide relief which was immediately required for the people of the Nagahamulla Visitune Watta in Kolonnawa who had faced a severe problem due to stagnated water.

While the people in the said area had been in great distress due to the stagnation of the water collected during the recent rainy season, the Kolonnawa Urban Council had taken no step to resolve the problem.

The water had thus stagnated due to the blocking of the drainage system caused by the garbage dumped by the Colombo Municipal Council at Potuwilkumbura in the vicinity of Visitune Watta.

The Kolonnawa Urban Council had not taken any step to remove the water from homes of the people by clearing the drainage system saying that it should be done by the Colombo Municipal Council.

However the people thus affected reside in the area that is within the jurisdiction of the Kolonnawa Urban Council.

When there was no solace from the Kolonnawa Urban Council the people of Visitune Watta of Nagahamulla informed about this to MP R. Dumindha Silva.

While the Parliamentarian who instantly went to the area said that immediate relief would be provided, clearing the drainage system commenced last afternoon on the direction of the Defence Secretary thus fulfilling the pledge given to distressed people.

Participating in the occasion MP R. Dumindha Silva said that it was not appropriate for people's representatives to be mindful of differences when providing relief when people were in distress.

Participating in the debate for the extension of the State of Emergency in Parliament recently Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva stated that the Government has no intention of suppressing peaceful protests using the Emergency Regulations.

The Parliamentarian stated further in Parliament that the Leader of the Opposition and the members of the Opposition party are providing a wrong interpretation to the programme that has been launched by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to provide new housing for the people living in shanties in the Colombo City.

Solutions for the water issue in Kollonnawa on the intervention of Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva.

Colombo District Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva says that the development activities in Kollonnawa will be carried out to the fullest under the Mahinda Chinthana - The Vision Ahead 2010 of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Parliamentarian stated this while participating in the inauguration of the Kollonnawa Water Supply Project in the Gothatuwa Town on the 22nd of August and is being implemented at a cost of Rs. 2 Billion.

Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva meanwhile also stated that he will provide a solution to the water issue just in the same manner as he did in resolving the garbage issue in the Kollonnawa region.

The Parliamentarian further stated that on the occasion that the day in which Kollonnawa will be recorded in the annuls of history in Golden letters had arrived and that being able to provide a solution to the water issue which had greatly inconvenienced the public in Kollonnawa was indeed an immense victory.

Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva also said that he had now undertaken the task of development for the Kollonnawa Electorate which had not had a Parliamentary Representative for 13 years.

The Parliamentarian meanwhile reiterated these development activities were being carried out under the patronage of the President.

The residents of the region had been undergoing sever inconveniences as a result of the low water pressure which was experienced during the day time.

The residents had hence made a request to Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva to provide a solution for this issue and accordingly the Parliamentarian had come forward to provide a permanent solution to the issue.

Under this water supply project which will cover approximately 45 Kilometres of water lines will provide water to approximately 12,500 subscribers.

Meanwhile the Minister of Water Supply and Drainage, Dinesh Gunawardena who also participated in the inauguration ceremony for this water supply project said that this development project which had come forward amidst many difficulties had finally been implemented.

The Minister also stated that Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva had provided his support with regards to making this project a success.

The Minister meanwhile also said that this project was a victory for the people of Kollonnawa.

Meanwhile Minister Dinesh Gunawardena went on to request everyone to render their support towards the development projects that are being carried out by Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva as a young politician.

The Minister reiterated that through the implementation of these projects it would help make the Kollonnawa region a valuable region which would be a hub of development.

A new residential complex for cancer patients from MP R. Dumindha Silva.

Colombo District Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva has come forward to construct a building which can provide shelter and residential facilities for the thousands of cancer patients who come from across the country to obtain medication from the Maharagama Cancer Hospital.

MP R. Dumindha Silva handed over the financial aid required for constructing the four-storey building yesterday to the Venerable Vaaegantale Seevali Thera the Chief Incumbent of the Religious and Welfare Centre of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital where the building will be constructed.

Patients from all parts of the country who come to the clinic at the cancer hospital lodge at this welfare centre and the centre's current single-storey building is not spacious enough to handle the requirements of the patients.

Colombo District Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva has granted the financial aid which is required for constructing the four-storey building to bring solace to the patients who have been inconvenienced as yet another one of the philanthropic activities that are being taken by the Parliamentarian to provide relief to the innocent and helpless people.

Meanwhile Maharagama Cancer Hospital Religious and Welfare Centre Chief Prelate Venerable Vaaegantale Seevali Thera expressed his sincere gratitude to Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva regarding this act of social service which has been carried out by the Parliamentarian.

He also went on to say that a vast number of cancer patients who come to obtain treatment from the Maharagama Cancer Hospital reside at the facility that is maintained by the Centre, but that due to an increase in the number of patients that come to obtain treatment the current facility was overloaded and finding it difficult to provide for the requirements of all the patients.

The Chief Incumbent also stated that as a result of this situation he had requested the Colombo District Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva to assist in providing relief to the patients by constructing a new building for the patients to reside in while obtaining treatment.

Accordingly the Chief Incumbent stated that following the decision of the Parliamentarian to assist in this task a great many cancer patients will benefit as a result.

The Chief Incumbent also said that his blessings were with Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva who had engaged in this great philanthropic task.

Meanwhile the helpless patients benefiting from the Maharagama Cancer Hospital Religious and Welfare Centre express their gratitude for this magnanimous donation of Colombo District MP R. Dumindha Silva.

They stated that they were extremely grateful to the Parliamentarian for coming forward to assist in this endeavour as they find it extremely difficult to find a place to reside in while obtaining treatment after coming to the Maharagama Cancer Hospital from many parts of the island.

Accordingly the patients also went on to state that Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva should be blessed and receive further encouragement to continue with his philanthropic activities which have greatly benefited the innocent and helpless people of the country.

Solutions for Garbage issue in Kollonnawa.

Solutions have been given to the garbage problem faced by the residents of the Meethotamulla area due to the manner in which garbage of Colombo and Kollonnawa are disposed.

This was after the problem was brought to the attention of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse by Kollonawa SLFP Chief Organizer Parliamentarian R Duminda Silva.

Therefore the disposal of garbage in Meethotamulla will take place in a standardized manner which will no longer be a headache to the residents of the area.

The successful series of seminars held as an aid for the scholarship exam under the “Sisu Saviya” program.

The new building constructed at the Mulleriyawa police station, in the Kolonnawa electorate was handed over to the public, under the patronage of Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayake.
